I think the best comparison I can make is that it’s a beat ‘em up/hack’n slash MMO with talent specs.
The questing is like every other MMORPG, go kill this many of those, gather this many of that or kill those and loot that from them. Some questseries form a Headline which usually ends with a fight with an iconic boss from the one of the sides (I fought Bane two days ago as a villain working for the Joker).
When you create your char you get to choose your mentor, your power source a weapon type and your movement type.
Mentor is afaik only cosmetic, it determines which wing in the main base is your ”home” and your starting zone, your weapon type can be changed once you hit level 10 so that’s not very important either, the power source is your class and can’t be changed once the char is created (I haven’t found a way atleast) and the movement type determines how you move around when out of combat and some special attacks in combat and can’t be changed either.
Each power is divided into two trees – ice, for example, has winds and cryogenesis, nature has plants and shapeshifting – from which you can select passive or active abilities. Some of the weapon trees are divided into ranged and melee abilities, but one of them usually dominates the tree.
All classes have two roles, one of which is damage, the other is control (CC, utility), tank and healer. You can switch your role anytime when out of combat and some abilities have different effects depending on your role.
If I recall correctly you can choose your powers between:
Tanks: Fire, Ice
Control: Gadgets, Mental
Healer: Nature, Magic
Mentors between:
Heroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder woman
Villains: The Joker, Lex Luthor, can’t remember the last one
Weapons between:
Ranged: Bow, Dual pistols, Rifle
Ranged/Melee: Hand blasts
Melee: Brawling, Martial arts, Staves, One-handed, Two-handed and Dual Wield
Movement types between:
Flying, Acrobatics and Super Speed (think The Flash)

I "Legends läget" får man välja en av åtta avatarer att spela som
Combat is a mix of button combos (square for melee, triangle for ranged – all weapons have both ranged and melee but are better at one or the other, sometimes depending on how you spec) and special abilities from your powers and movement.
When you level up you get either a skill point to spend on powers or iconic abilities (abilities borrowed from DC super heroes) or a talent point to spend on movement or power abilities.
This far, I’ve got nothing bad to say about the quests, they seem fun and varied (although some of the starting zone quests are the same regardless of what zone or faction you start in, it’s just the location that changes). One nice thing is that if you play both a hero and a villain you’ll encounter quests that are each others exact opposites. A good example was when I was told by Circe to convert amazons to beasts as a villain and as a hero I was told to by some amazon leader to knock out the beasts and convert them back to amazons. And the headline series is ofc pretty fun since you get to see a whole lot of DC heroes/villains. The bosses that end the headline series are also quite fun encounters, with some mechanics – Bane for example pulled down the roof on you so you had to watch for falling debris in one phase and in the next chased you with a giant I-bar so you had to kite him.
As for group content, I’ve tried one Alert (dungeon), it was chaotic and we didn’t have a healer so we cleared everything except the last boss. The PvP is divided into world wide pvp (some ”ring” event which I haven’t found, possibly due to me not being max level yet), Arena PvP (battlegrounds) and Legends PvP. There also Raids and Duos (no idea what that is) but I can’t access them until I’m level 30 (which I suppose is max).
The Arena is pretty fun, but the Legends PvP is really interesting. You get avatars as quest rewards or buy them for PvP currency and then you select which avatar (which determines your abilities, all of them seem to have acrobatics as movement) you want to play as when you enter the queue, I’ve collected Batman, Robin and Harleyquinn so far.
On the whole it seems rather promising, the most limiting factor is the fact that I can only access 6 of my abilities + consumable + some other slot I haven’t found out what it’s for yet while in combat, some method of switching between action bars would have been nice.
Från början hade jag tänkt köra inlägget igenom Google Translate och lägga in det här, men Google Translate gjorde inte ett vidare bra jobb med översättningen, så det får duga med engelska.
